An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Automation Engineer to support and enhance refinery automation systems. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving complex control systems to ensure safe and reliable operations. PURPOSE OF WORK
To support and maintain the Refinery Automation Systems to facilitate safe, secure, reliable and continued operation of SAMREF Refinery. The Refinery automation system includes Distributed Control System (DCS), PLC based Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Turbo Machinery Controls (TMC) PLC, Burner Management System (BMS) application PLC, High Integrity Pressure Protective (HIPPS) PLC system, Process control PLCs, Oil Port Metering Systems, Tank Gauging System, Automation applications, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Plant Information system (PI) and Plant Automation Network. To investigate, troubleshoot, correct and mitigate automation related problems. To support & enhance systems reliability and implement improvement recommendations. To Support new automation projects. To support the control system cybersecurity hardening and enhancement.
REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES:
1.To monitor and maintain refinery process automation and information systems for continuous Refinery operations. This includes:
2.Provide technical Support to SAMREF major and in-site projects (i.e. TSRs, MOCs) during initial design, review of critical documents, testing, commissioning and startup of control system.
3.Plan, oversight and implement automation systems projects and changes (e.g. TSRs, MOCs, etc.).
4.Develop and update automation system & application procedures and work instructions (e.g. security, backup, software changes,.., etc), systems cyber security updates and ensure compliance with them by all parties.
5.Enhance and maintain the integrity and robustness of automation, information and application systems software & hardware.
6.Develop and/or provide documentation and training for special or complex automation systems software and/or control applications to refinery operators and/or systems engineers.
7.Act on a support role for DCS technicians in troubleshooting and resolving systems hardware issues.
8.Keep up to date on the latest technologies and best practices in automation systems and cybersecurity including notices and alerts to enhance SAMREF position in taking advantage of enhanced security and adoption of best practices.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree of Engineering in Computer or Systems or Electronics.
SKILLS:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years of related experience (Preferred in Oil & Gas refineries).
