Scope
The Jazan IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) is the world’s largest IGCC Power Plant facility processing vacuum residue to generate syngas. Additional units include Acid Gas Removal, Soot Ash Recovery, Sulphur Recovery, and Hydrogen Purification. The plant features Syngas/ULSD fired Gas Turbines, HRSGs, and Steam Turbines, along with utilities such as water treatment, wastewater treatment, and instrument air. Located in Jazan Economic City, in the province of Jazan, KSA.
As a Process Engineer at Jazan IGCC, you will support the technical engineering and operations teams in executing performance tests and optimizing plant operations under the guidance of the CSU&PT engineering leader.
The performance testing engineer role focuses on ensuring systems, equipment, or processes meet performance standards and operate optimally under various conditions. Responsibilities include evaluating, testing, and optimizing engineering systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Role Responsibilities
Safety

Engineering
- Analyze existing plant processes and identify improvement areas to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Implement process changes to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and optimize operations.
- Design, execute, and analyze plant performance tests to assess system and equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Evaluate performance data to identify optimization opportunities and provide recommendations.
- Collect and analyze process data to monitor performance and identify trends or deviations.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing test results and optimization recommendations.
- Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams for process-related problems.
- Implement process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and refine SOPs and ensure process consistency.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure safe and efficient processes.
- Provide technical advice and training to plant personnel.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analyses.
- Lead or participate in process improvement projects.
- Coordinate with engineering and other departments for project execution.
- Monitor and maintain process control systems.
- Collaborate with maintenance to ensure peak equipment performance.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures.
- Maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, flow diagrams, and procedures.
- Keep records of tests, optimizations, and maintenance activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant process engineering experience.
- Operational experience in utility units such as seawater reverse osmosis desalination, water demineralization, wastewater treatment, tankage, flare, and fuel gas systems.
- Strong skills in process flow analysis, P&ID interpretation, and documentation.
- Experience with process control and automation systems, including advanced control strategies.
- Effective communication skills for interaction across teams.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with PI process book and LIMS for data analysis.
- Experience with process simulation tools like Aspen HYSIS, ProMax, and TSweet.
