Job Description

As Process Engineer you will provide technical support, development and control to Askar Tissue Manufacturing Plant, maintaining the highest levels of productivity and profitability while ensuring acceptable safety and quality levels.


A Tissue Converting Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving processes involved in converting tissue paper into finished products, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and facial tissues.


Key responsibilities:


  • Safety: Enhance the Occupational Health and Safety Standards and SOPs to meet the standards of local and international requirements, while guaranteeing compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This involves performing safety audits, identifying potential hazards, and executing required corrective actions.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that finished products meet quality standards by monitoring and testing production samples. This may include developing quality control plans, analyzing test results, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Process Design: Design and implement manufacturing processes that meet production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and analyze process inefficiencies and develop strategies to improve productivity, reduce waste, minimize downtime, and improve product quality. This may involve analyzing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing KC best practices.
  • Data analysis: Collect and analyze data to identify trends, improve processes, and optimize efficiency. Use statistical analysis tools to monitor process performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of processes, procedures, and equipment specifications. This includes creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and securing the equipment manual.

In addition to these responsibilities, the process engineer needs to work closely with cross-functional teams, such as production, quality control, R&E, Marketing, CA, and maintenance, to ensure that all aspects of the converting process are aligned and operating efficiently. They may also be involved in training and developing staff to ensure that they are proficient in the converting process.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:


  • You are holding Saudi Nationality (as per government requirement).
  • The position requires a minimum of a BSc. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering is preferable) and continuing self-development.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a Graduate Process Engineer or Process Engineering role, experience in FMCG is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification, experience in TPM, Safety Certificate as an advantage.
  • You will work with multinational teams – good spoken and written English is needed.
