Job Description

Handle process activities such as studies and design modifications in the operating facilities and develop simulation models for assigned operation facilities. Develop, review and/or validate plant mass balances and check plant performance to ensure it is running up to its design. Look for opportunities to optimize operations and implement them accordingly. Use the software simulation programs such as HYSYS and Promax. Provide technical direction/support to in-Kingdom and out-of-Kingdom design contractors. Formulate and implement long-term strategies to improve operations and reduce costs and lead groups of engineers in the shutdown and start-up phase of existing plants. Reviews the work performed elsewhere than in SAO for conformance with SAO conditions and to assure its appropriate relationship to existing installations; and if required, redesigns and recommends necessary modifications. Outlines the supporting service requirements such as drafting, surveying, materials take-off, requisitioning and clerical services; checks and coordinates the progress of such work; and reviews it for accuracy upon completion. Develops cost estimates for the cost of engineering, labor, equipment and materials based on analysis of preliminary design data; draws up the expenditure request and justification; and assembles the supporting detail. Assists other engineers in the solution of problems outside their specialty (application) and initiates reports, assembles performance data and conducts studies relative to the development, procurement or adaptation of equipment; interpreting the meaning and application of codes and standards, reviewing operating procedures and safety instructions. Development of engineering, material and equipment specifications and resolves related engineering problems and applies accepted engineering principles, codes and standards; making the necessary diagrams and calculations; and considering the economic factors involved. Develops solutions and formulates design basis by collecting and analyzing data relative to operating requirements, process and economic considerations to support proposals for new construction, modifications or equipment maintenance. Follows and inspects the construction progress of assigned projects assuring conformance with company engineering requirements; recommends or confirms design changes, material and equipment substitutes; and assures that cost is within appropriated funds or justifies incurred overrun.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or other advanced professional degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience within refining/oil and gas plants/petrochemical industries. Demonstrated proficiency in the codes and standards in the oil and gas industry, i.e., API, ISO, ASME. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of metering systems.
  • Experience in process safety-related activities like HAZOP, risk assessment, etc. is preferred.
