Job description

Department: Life Cycle Services

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Dammam - Saudi Arabia

Description

This position provides technical Lifecycle Services and Support to customers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for Ethylene business unit technologies. This role will provide home office and on-site technical engineering assistance for customers’ operational issues and performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide post start-up technical services and assistance, including but not limited to:
    1. Troubleshooting of customer plant operation
    2. Plant data analysis for performance monitoring and evaluation
    3. Implementation of plant performance improvements
    4. Consulting for unit turnarounds
    5. Investigating plant safety incidents
    6. Evaluating and resolving maintenance issues and procedures
    7. Answering customer questions regarding production and operations
  2. Conduct surveys to gather field data and benchmark performance of licensee plants
  3. Support clients in communication with equipment vendors
  4. Develop and deliver technical presentations internally and to customers
  5. Review/develop and present training for customers
  6. Interpret and prepare engineering documents
  7. Provide feedback for improvement in design and procedures based on field experience
  8. Prepare write-ups for operating practices, troubleshooting guides, safety advice, etc.
  9. Conduct plant assessments and audits to proactively identify plant issues that require improvement
  10. Collaborate with company subject matter experts to provide professional feedback to customers
  11. Work on small projects, including preparation and execution of process simulations
  12. Evaluate potential for application of the latest innovations and technologies at customer plants
  13. Support various business unit activities, on occasion: (e.g., HAZOP, model reviews, piping checks, commissioning and start-up support, on-site support for performance guarantee testing, etc.)
  14. Visit customer sites on a regular basis
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  1. University degree in Chemical Engineering
  2. Minimum 10 – 15 years’ experience in ethylene plant operation, design, and simulation
  3. Fluent business English skills – verbal and written
  4. Analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  5. Must be able to multi-task and complete tasks on time and within budget
  6. Customer-focused
  7. Strong leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills
  8. Strong communicator, excellent written and oral communication abilities
  9. High degree of self-motivation and personal energy
  10. Ability and willingness to travel regionally (+/- 30%)
  11. Experience working with a process technology licensor is preferred
  12. Good command of MS OFFICE tools (i.e., Excel, WORD, PowerPoint, etc.) and process simulator software
