Job description
Summary

Leads and develops research/service program(s), capable of managing diverse research team(s) and mentors scientific staff, and collaborates with other Scientists and Clinicians both within and outside the Hospital, to obtain external funding that aligns with the institution’s strategic direction as assigned; and supervises PhD and master’s students.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Develops a program strategy and implementation plan such as short and long term goals and objectives for research programs within the mission and goals of the Research Centre and Hospital.
  2. Leads primary responsibility for defining the methodology for conducting research and evaluating research results in order to ensure the highest standards of research practice and quality.
  3. Provides technical and scientific knowledge/ Assistant to junior and senior staff within the research program.
  4. Leads and/or collaborates with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the Research Centre as assigned.
  5. Evaluates and manages the research program resources, in terms of staff, budget, equipment and supplies and the overall planning and organization.
  6. Evaluates and maintains hierarchical structure for scientific and technical staff to oversee various projects within the research program.
  7. Analyses and interprets complex experimental outcome.
  8. Follows all Laboratory safety rules and regulations.
  9. Follows all hospital related policies and procedures.
  10. Participates in self and other’s education, training and development, as applicable.
  11. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Education

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree or Doctor of Science (DSc) Degree from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline relevant to the research field is required.

Experience Required

Twelve (12) years post doctorate experience as an independent professional within his/her field required.

Other Requirements(Certificates)
  • Evidence of scholarly research accomplishment in the form of publications that shows originality, novelty, significance, and potential impact on the field.
  • Minimum of forty (40) full-length, peer-reviewed publications in which twenty (20) during the current tenure are required.
  • At least half of these publications should be a Senior Principal Author role and their impact factor should be greater than the field’s average.
  • Evidence of contributory review article(s), book chapter(s), or book(s) in the field of expertise.
  • Role as principal investigator in at least four (4) fully completed research projects and two (2) on-going projects.
  • Evidence of generating significant external funding.
  • Presentations of at least seven (7) of the following: Keynote lectures, invited presentations, and oral talks selected from meeting abstracts. It is important to exclude participation commercial run-conferences. Preferences are given to Society and academic meetings.
  • Academic involvement in education and training activities.
  • Evidence of scientific citations or other distinguished metrics.
  • Evidence of honors, awards, and editorial distinctions.
  • Highly-ranked membership and professional roles in national and international professional bodies.
