Job description

The Principal Project Manager will ensure the commercial and technical delivery of projects, including undertaking project management tasks in line with our quality and risk management processes. On larger projects, the Principal Project Manager may act as the Project Manager or the Project Director. Additionally, the role involves the management and production of proposals. The Principal Project Manager will lead relationships with clients on projects and to win new work.

Key responsibilities and duties include:
  1. Managing the full life-cycle of the project, ensuring successful completion from start to finish, including project kick-off, design, execution, and completion, while ensuring compliance with Mott MacDonald’s processes and procedures.
  2. Establishing and maintaining processes for project cost, schedule, scope, quality, and controls.
  3. Establishing and maintaining information procedures.
  4. Ensuring all safety and quality standards are met; reviewing and communicating project health and safety plans with the help of the Health and Safety Manager to ensure all staff (internal and external) are aware of risks; preventing hazards and accidents.
  5. Reporting on the progress of delivery against pre-identified milestones.
  6. Preparing monthly reports for the client and delivering progress presentations.
  7. Managing the full life-cycle of bids and ensuring their successful completion.
  8. Mentoring and developing staff, providing leadership and fostering a positive working environment.
  9. Monitoring and reviewing compliance with the Group’s management system requirements and reporting findings.
  10. Building and maintaining key relationships both internally within Mott MacDonald and externally with key clients.
