The Role

As a Principal Power Systems Engineer, you will lead and mentor engineers in delivering complex designs that meet customer specifications. You will provide technical expertise and leadership to support current products and define future product development opportunities in power grids, focusing on advanced transmission management functions of AspenTech’s control systems. You will also support ongoing customer needs to ensure reliable performance and customer satisfaction. Working from AspenTech’s Medina office, you will contribute to project delivery and product management excellence for utility customers in the energy management industry.

Your Impact
  • Train, develop, lead, coach, and manage the performance of team members.
  • Supervise daily operations of the Power Systems Engineering team and delegate work to meet deadlines.
  • Design, integrate, test, and commission advanced control systems for electric utilities.
  • Evaluate contract specifications and define project requirements.
  • Communicate detailed requirements to internal departments and customers.
  • Work with customers and remote team members to understand requirements and communicate plans.
  • Perform customer training and consult on power system modeling.
  • Create project and product documentation as needed.
  • Perform testing and tuning to ensure system meets requirements.
  • Support live customer systems with knowledge of power systems and AspenTech applications.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and trends.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred, with emphasis in Power Systems.
  • Practical understanding of energy transmission systems, including operation, control, and optimization.
  • Extensive technical expertise and understanding of related disciplines.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing advanced power systems applications, including State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Power Flow studies, model management, and Stability Analysis.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience applying knowledge spanning IT and OT solutions.
  • Skills in analyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting, supporting, and modifying transmission applications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

The salary range for this role is $127,000 to $158,700, with potential for bonuses and comprehensive benefits including paid time off, insurance, and retirement plans.
