Job description

The driving force behind our success has always been the people of AspenTech. What drives us is our aspiration, desire, and ambition to continually push the envelope, overcome hurdles, and challenge the status quo to find better solutions. You will experience these qualities—passion, pride, and aspiration—in many ways, from career development programs to community service projects and social events that foster fun and relationship building across our global community.

The Role

Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a high-growth area in our business that enables electric distribution utilities to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As a Power Systems Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of delivering systems to our customers. You will leverage your experience with utility operations, ADMS systems, and business processes to lead and advise utility clients during ADMS implementation. As a highly skilled individual contributor, you will be a trusted advisor engaging with all levels of the utility, from field crews to executive management. You will collaborate with teams including ADMS Application Engineers, Architecture and Product Solution teams, and Software Development. Your insights will influence the future of ADMS products and serve as a "voice for the utility" within AspenTech. This role reports to the Manager, ADMS Project Consulting.

Your Impact
  1. Lead the creation and deployment of automated testing tools such as Locust, K6, Python, and other frameworks developed by AspenTech.
  2. Participate in strategic initiatives to optimize deployment processes for project systems, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Develop and refine standardized templates and protocols to support these improvements.
  3. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in automation, guiding and mentoring internal teams, third-party collaborators, and customer technical experts on best practices and standards.
  4. Engage proactively in automated non-functional testing to identify limitations and areas for enhancement in AspenTech's ADMS and associated test frameworks. Collaborate with development teams to maintain a consistent approach to product testing, ensuring performance and quality.
  5. Manage and optimize internal ADMS delivery scripts, including simulation, configuration validation, custom solutions, and other critical functionalities, ensuring they are efficient, current, and aligned with standards.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (preferable).
  • At least 3 years of project implementation or operational experience, preferably in the utility or automation industry.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, and PowerShell. Experience leading technical/software workshops. Familiarity with SVN, GitHub, SDLC, Linux Server OS, networking, firewalls, load balancers, TCP/IP, security standards, SQL, and MongoDB.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask on several projects in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Business Analysis and Change Management concepts. Strong customer service commitment.
