Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Principal Equipment Design Engineer for power generation projects. You will lead a team of mechanical engineers and designers, developing execution plans, data sheets, and specifications for large-scale power plants (700 MW+).

Responsibilities include technical leadership across the project lifecycle, participation in design reviews, vendor document reviews, and risk assessments, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness. PE/CEng desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in power generation engineering.
• Experience with FEED, detailed engineering and procurement support.
• Experience in large-scale power projects (700 MW+).
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
• Develop engineering execution plans, deliverable registers, manpower plans, and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, standards, specs, and procedures.
• Review and approve equipment data sheets, specifications, calculations, and deliverables.
• Lead technical bid evaluations and provide procurement support for mechanical equipment.
• Review and coordinate vendor drawings and documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical activities with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, clients, and vendors.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
• Drive safety, reliability, maintainability, sustainability, and cost optimization.
• Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Manage technical risks and resolve complex engineering issues.
