Job summary

KAUST in Thuwal invites applications for a post-doctoral research position focusing on nanofabrication for emitting devices within the Semiconductors and Materials Spectroscopy group. The role leverages advanced laser facilities and spectroscopic instrumentation.

The successful candidate will work on GaN-based optoelectronic devices, engage in international collaborations, and contribute to publications and grant reporting while mentoring junior researchers.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science or optoelectronics.
• Experience fabricating LED and laser diodes.
• Cleanroom fabrication of thin films via solution and vacuum processes.
• Peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields.
• Strong theoretical background in optoelectronic devices.
• Experience optical/electrical characterization of nanostructures/devices.
• Excellent English communication; able to work in a team and alone.
• Self-motivated and well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleanroom fabrication using e-beam lithography, deposition and sputtering.
• Design and process related devices.
• Decide research directions with supervisor within project scope.
• Mentor junior team members and PhD students.
• Document research results for papers, reports and presentations.
• Prepare technical reports for grant bodies; develop external collaborations.
• Undertake duties assigned by supervisor and plan experimental activities.
• Maintain cooperation with external partners.
