Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedSenior Traffic and Detour Engineerto join PMCM team. The ideal candidate will lead efforts in traffic engineering, detour planning, and traffic management for large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. This role requires expertise in traffic operations, temporary traffic control, and construction phasing, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and construction activities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead traffic engineering tasks, including traffic studies, signal design, and roadway safety analysis.

  • Develop and review temporary traffic control plans (TTCPs) for construction projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards.

  • Conduct traffic modeling and simulation using tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, and HCS.

  • Provide technical expertise in roadway design, traffic signal timing, and intersection improvements.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate traffic solutions into overall project designs.

  • Design and review temporary traffic detour plans to minimize disruptions during construction activities.

  • Ensure compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other relevant standards.

  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate existing traffic conditions and identify potential impacts of detour routes.

  • Coordinate with public agencies, utility companies, and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals for detour plans.

  • Monitor the implementation of detour plans during construction, ensuring proper setup and maintenance of traffic control devices.

  • Manage Contractor, schedules, and deliverables to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies on traffic and detour-related matters.

  • Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering professional growth and technical excellence within the team.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to clients and stakeholders.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices in traffic engineering and detour planning.

What's required for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, detour planning, or related fields.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale PMCM projects, including traffic management and construction coordination.

  • Saudi Council of Engineers

  • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification is a plus.

  • Certification as a Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) or similar is a plus.

  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software such as Civil3D, Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.

  • Strong understanding of MUTCD, AASHTO, and other relevant traffic and detour design standards.

  • Familiarity with construction phasing, work zone safety, and temporary traffic control devices.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
