Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering).
  • 5 to 10 years of experience working on the design of process and power piping.
  • Proficient in computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR II, CADWORX, SP3D, MicroStation).
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 Code for Pressure Piping, and ISO13480.
  • Familiar with local & international codes, regulations, and specifications, including but not limited to Saudi Aramco Standards, SADARA, SABIC, and others.
  • Familiar with equipment nozzles loading assessment, checking, and limitation.
  • Knowledge of WRC 107/297 for Nozzle load Check.
  • Knowledge of stress analysis of piping systems for occasional loading (Seismic, Wind).
  • Performs piping stress analysis using applicable software (CAESAR II, SP-3D, PDMS, CADWORX, PDS, MicroStation).
  • Prepares stress analysis reports and stress isometrics.
  • Creates models of the pipeline to test its strength and durability.
  • Oversees the construction and MOCs of the pipeline based on chemical service provided by the client.
  • Hydraulic design of piping systems (pipe sizing, pressure drop calculation, and pump head selection).
  • Prepares piping isometric drawings with joint and spool numbers for fabrication.
  • Coordinates with other departments to resolve conflicts.
  • Prepares work instructions for piping designers and draftsmen.
  • Discusses and analyzes problems during design.
  • Provides technical support to mechanical, control teams, and project teams.
  • Reviews vendor drawings and checks required components across disciplines.
  • Prepares piping and valve material specifications.
  • Creates technical piping and erection specifications.
  • Performs safety assessments of piping systems.
  • Prepares MTOs for all piping, fittings, and valves per ASME standards.
  • Prepares Safety Instruction Sheets (SIS) for hydrotests, tie-in indices, and packages.
  • Checks civil structure and instrumentation cable tray drawings for clashes.
  • Finalizes pump suction lines to meet NPSHa & NPSHr requirements based on manufacturer recommendations.
  • Conducts and attends 3D model reviews with engineering team and clients using smart plant review.
  • Works with process and control engineers to finalize P&IDs and PFDs.
  • Prepares in-plant piping thickness calculations per ASME B31.3 and outside-plant pipeline thickness calculations per ASME B31.8.
  • Performs engineering calculations for expansion loops, slug forces, relief valve thrusts, equipment displacements, etc.
