Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Pediatric Development & Behavior Psychiatry Consultant provides specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children and adolescents with developmental and behavioral disorders. This role involves collaboration with families, educational institutions, and multidisciplinary teams to support optimal mental health and developmental outcomes. The consultant is responsible for implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions and contributing to research initiatives that enhance understanding and treatment of pediatric behavioral health.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providespediatricdevelopment & behaviorcare to patients in this area of medicine.
  • Provide consultative service as requested.
  • Supervise fellows, staff/ assistant physicians, and residents.
  • Actively participates in the training and teaching of residents and fellows in his area of expertise and participates in research activities.
  • Participates in committees and other administrative functions as needed.
  • Work closely with pediatricians, educators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
  • Follows all hospital-related policies and procedures.
  • Provide evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and play therapy, to address emotional and behavioral challenges.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Graduate from a medical school of good standing.
  • Completion of required period of training in pediatric psychiatry.
  • American board/ FRCS Irish, UK, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian/Diplome dEtudes/(DES)/CIS French Board/ Facharzt & Sub- Board/ Fellowship with Min. 3-4 years experience post-Board/Fellowship.
  • Membership and/or Fellowship status in America and/or Europe or their equivalent and fulfilling the criteria for the consultant as required
  • A certificate recognized by the Saudi commission is a must.
  • Dataflow is a must.

Professional Experience

  • Min. 3-4 years Post Board/Fellowship in pediatric psychiatry.
  • A registered member of the Saudi Board Council

Language

  • Proficiency in English; additional proficiency in Arabic may be beneficial.
