Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef with specialized expertise in Oriental and Middle Eastern desserts and pastries. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of traditional recipes, ingredients, and presentation styles from across the Middle East and neighboring regions, combined with the creativity to bring a modern twist to classic favorites.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and present a variety of Middle Eastern and Oriental pastries and desserts (e.g., baklava, kunafa, maamoul, basbousa, qatayef, Turkish delights, halva, etc.).
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dessert items.
- Develop new dessert offerings inspired by traditional flavors, with seasonal and innovative twists.
- Manage pastry kitchen operations, including inventory control, cost management, and hygiene standards.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff and pastry assistants as needed.
- Maintain proper storage of ingredients and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B team to plan dessert menus for à la carte service, events, and catering functions.
- Ensure all production is completed in a timely manner, meeting service deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a pastry chef with specialization in Oriental and Middle Eastern desserts.
- Strong knowledge of traditional recipes, ingredients, and presentation styles across the Middle East and neighboring regions.
- Ability to develop modern twists on classic desserts and work in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong leadership and training abilities; experience supervising pastry teams.
- Food safety and sanitation certification or equivalent.
