Summary

Within the mission, vision, and values of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, responsible for designing, fabricating, and fitting artificial limbs, braces, and appliances for patients following the instructions and prescriptions of the physician, in line with the standards of clinical practice, policies, procedures, and accrediting bodies.

Education/Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Orthotics/Prosthetics or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Licensed Orthotist/Prosthetist from the country of origin
Experience Post-Qualifications:
  • Minimum four (4) years of position-related practical experience
License:

Current and in good standing license/registration

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assess and determine the patient’s needs for the prescribed orthotic/prosthetic following functional assessment standards, policies, procedures, and accrediting bodies. Collaborate with physicians to conduct examinations, evaluations, and formulate prescriptions for patients’ orthotic or prosthetic needs.
  • Measure, mold, fabricate, and fit prescribed prostheses/orthoses, assessing their effectiveness in terms of functionality and safety.
  • Analyze orthotic and prosthetic problems to develop or adapt new or improved methods, techniques, instruments, and devices, including modifications of pre-fabricated orthoses/prostheses as instructed by physicians and based on patient feedback.
  • Identify patient needs and recommend referrals to other facilities or specialized centers if necessary. Liaise with other rehabilitation team members (e.g., physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians) to discuss patient care and rehabilitation plans.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including initial assessments, care plans, follow-up notes, and discharge summaries, ensuring adherence to clinical standards. Coordinate with supervisors to update clinical standards for orthotics/prosthetics.
  • Instruct and educate patients on the care, safe use, and maintenance of their orthoses/prostheses. Coordinate workflow within the department to ensure efficiency.
  • Comply with Health Information System procedures and technical requirements.
  • Prepare and submit statistical reports for review and feedback.
  • Ensure equipment safety and report faults promptly. Participate in staff development, training programs, team meetings, and contribute feedback to departmental activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
