Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

(a) To be based at site, working on an ON-OFF Cycle, primarily to carry out RO process troubleshooting and independently handle normal and abnormal process conditions and operations to ensure safe, reliable plant operation with maximum availability. The scope also includes collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, or C&I teams as needed for troubleshooting or preventive maintenance to achieve reliable, continuous, and safe operation and maintenance of equipment and plant.

(b) This role is primarily for Process Operation but also involves some maintenance support.

(c) Daily activities include monitoring power distribution and providing support to the Central Operations Team as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Professionalism:

• Prompt troubleshooting of processes to ensure production rate, water quality at each stage (Pretreatment, RO, Post-treatment, Storage, Export), and reject management are compliant with contractual limits, monitored consistently, and product delivery meets contractual terms with high plant reliability and availability.

• Take prompt and safe actions to ensure supply reliability and plant availability.

• Support other teams in planned and reactive maintenance activities safely and effectively.

• Be familiar with HMI screens, alarms, events, and trends for effective analysis and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and accidents and participate in root cause analysis investigations.
• Ensure continuous operation of plant equipment with minimal breakdowns.

• Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the role.

Technical knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of the RO process, including all water treatment stages and permeate production, as well as chemical impacts and controls.
• Comprehensive knowledge of chemicals used in pre- and post-treatment for RO desalination.
• Familiarity with the working principles of installed equipment, including PLCs and HMIs, based on the latest technology.
• Knowledge of handling abnormal process conditions and mitigation measures.
• Good knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems, HVAC, switchgear, pumps, motors, valves, and VSDs operations.

Skills

Minimum Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in an RO process environment, preferably in power and desalination plants or large RO desalination units.

Job Specific Skills:

• Proficient with various vendor HMIs and DCS/PLCs, including fault and alarm analysis.
• Experience with HMI operations, trip and event analysis, trend setup, and fault troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of chemicals used in RO plants and their dosage rates and impacts.
• Ability to read P&IDs, SLDs, schematics, and trip matrices.
• Experience in process logic analysis.
• Understanding of safety standards for working with pressurized and high-temperature systems.
• Knowledge of RO system instrumentation.
