JOB PURPOSE
p>BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in a training environment on how to use their aircraft, equipment, and weapons. BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies, thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships. The TSS Mechanical Team Lead works in a highly challenging yet rewarding environment, playing a key role in generating aircraft for the RSAF customer. The role is high-profile and involves interfacing with departments such as Ops, Supply Chain, and Senior Management within the RSAF and BAE SYSTEMS globally. The role may deputise for the Workshop Maintenance Manager during absences. Work involves leading the resolution of complex engineering issues and managing the team, including oversight of applicable rules and regulations. Activities vary daily.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for generating Tornado aircraft mechanical components within the Organisation’s Approval, ensuring sufficient aircraft components are available to meet commitments.
- Leads a team of approximately 170 personnel, including Tradesmen, Supervisors, and Superintendents.
- Ensures work is carried out according to standards and procedures in the MOE and scope of Off Aircraft Maintenance approval.
- Maintains an effective Error Management System and adheres to the organisation’s Safety Argument controls.
- Addresses all Quality failings within the Off Aircraft Maintenance Workshops.
- Manages diversions (including sickness) to ensure contracted output is delivered.
- Plans for Succession and Business Continuity within the workshops, maximising opportunities for Saudi Nationals.
- Ensures staff are qualified and experienced (SQEP) for maintenance tasks.
- Identifies opportunities for service improvement and promotes a Continuous Improvement culture.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in Aircraft Maintenance (e.g., completed a recognized traineeship or apprenticeship).
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Extensive practical experience in aircraft maintenance and systems, with knowledge of regulatory policies.
- Experience in a management role.
- HF and WOME trained.
- Valid driving license.
Desirable
- Understanding of RSAF 4-1-7166 series and technical publications.
- Experience with Tornado Aircraft Systems Maintenance Course.
