Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Assistant Consultants are expected to:
- Have a practical understanding of KAAUH Mission, Vision, Values, Bylaws, Code of Ethics, Code of Professional Conduct, and all Policies and Procedures related to their Job.
- Practice KAAUH values: Patient-Driven, High Reliability, Teamwork, Professional Ethics, Learning and Sharing, Performance-Driven.
- Provide patient/family education related to health learning needs.
Assistant Consultant shall contribute to the following three (3) performance areas:
A-Clinical:
- Assist Consultants in clinical work by providing patient care within their scope of services and privileges.
- Patient care includes consultation services, follow-up care, procedures, on-call duties, and other clinical responsibilities as assigned.
- Clinical duties will be assigned fairly among available staff, in compliance with hospital policies.
- Deliver patient care in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency rooms, operating rooms, day units, ICUs, etc.
- Practice based on up-to-date evidence and under supervision of Obstetrics & Gynecology consultants.
- Follow quality improvement initiatives and ensure a safe environment, complying with accreditation standards.
- Empower patients and families, contributing to an excellent patient experience.
- Demonstrate accountability, resource utilization, and efficient care processes.
- Supervise residents, contributing to their professional development and performance evaluations.
B-Administrative:
- Undertake administrative duties related to patient care, quality assurance, and hospital development.
- Develop clinical guidelines, pathways, and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in audits, peer reviews, morbidity & mortality rounds, and other quality activities.
- Assist with procurement, recruitment, policy development, process improvement, and committee participation.
C-Education & Research:
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities.
- Provide ongoing education to team members.
- Engage in departmental educational activities like Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs.
- Maintain CME requirements and participate in research activities, aiming for scientific publications.
- Promote patient-centered care and participate in quality and safety activities.
- Provide clear health information to patients.
- Perform other duties as required.
