NoSQL & OpenSource Database Admin

Administer and support databases including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2, and Elasticsearch (ELK stack).

Ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies are implemented and maintained.

Perform database backups, restorations, and continuity testing across multiple platforms.

Implement security best practices, access controls, and data encryption across database platforms.

Conduct regular performance tuning, index optimization, and query analysis.

Monitor database health and availability using built-in and third-party tools.

Automate administrative tasks through scripting and configuration management tools.

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support agile, scalable applications.

Document procedures, configurations, and technical troubleshooting workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administer and support databases including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2, and Elasticsearch (ELK stack).
2. Ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies are implemented and maintained.
3. Perform database backups, restorations, and continuity testing across multiple platforms.
4. Implement security best practices, access controls, and data encryption across database platforms.
5. Conduct regular performance tuning, index optimization, and query analysis.
6. Monitor database health and availability using built-in and third-party tools.
7. Automate administrative tasks through scripting and configuration management tools.
8. Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support agile, scalable applications.
9. Document procedures, configurations, and technical troubleshooting workflows.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. 5+ years of experience administering NoSQL and open-source databases in enterprise environments.
3. Expertise in:
1. MongoDB administration
2. PostgreSQL, MySQL, IBM DB2
3. Elasticsearch and the ELK stack
4. Strong understanding of database architecture, replication, clustering, and sharding.

Preferred Certifications:

1. MongoDB Certified DBA
2. ELK/Elastic Stack Certification (Elasticsearch Engineer, Kibana Analyst, etc.)
3. Other relevant open-source database certifications are a plus

Preferred Skills & Experience:

1. Experience with security hardening, compliance frameworks, and role-based access control.
2. Familiarity with containerized database deployments using Docker/Kubernetes.
3. Knowledge of cloud-hosted NoSQL services (e.g., MongoDB Atlas, Amazon RDS, AWS OpenSearch).
4. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to support 24/7 production environments.
