Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of practice in the specialty after obtaining a higher degree, preferably in a tertiary care hospital.
  • Subspecialty training or degree is preferred.
  • Membership, Fellowship, or Board Certification in the relevant specialty.
  • Relevant licensure acceptable to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and the Ministry of Health.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned clinics as per the approved schedule.
  • Conduct initial assessments, investigations, and diagnostic analyses.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies to treat or prevent complications.
  • Discuss diagnostic results and prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Monitor patient progress and re-assess care plans as needed.
  • Perform daily rounds and document medical records.
  • Supervise and train medical trainees as assigned.

Consultant Neurologist
Job Purpose / Objective

The Consultant Neurologist is responsible for providing the highest standard of clinical care in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with neurological conditions. The physician will also contribute to continuous quality improvement activities in the department and the hospital to help achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Manage assigned clinics as per the approved schedule. Admit patients as necessary, in line with assigned privileges.
  • Conduct initial assessments, investigations, and diagnostic analyses to formulate treatment plans, including follow-ups.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies to treat or prevent complications of neurological diseases.
  • Discuss diagnostic results and prescribed treatments with patients and their authorized attendants.
  • Monitor patient progress and re-assess care plans as needed.
  • Refer patients to other specialists when required.
  • Perform daily rounds on patients under their care and document medical records as per hospital policies.
  • Supervise and review notes by junior medical staff in the patients’ care.
  • Approve discharge summaries, medical reports, and follow-up plans.
  • Undertake department leadership responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Supervise the activities of specialists, residents, nurses, and other staff involved in patient care.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies and quality improvement programs.
  • Participate in hospital committees, emergency codes, and on-call duties as required.
  • Provide medical reports when requested by the hospital management.
  • Educate patients and their families on healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Contribute to community health education efforts.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality for assigned duties.
  • Obtain informed consent for all procedures in line with hospital policy.
  • Lead person-centered care initiatives and participate in academic activities.
  • Provide supervision and training to medical trainees as assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and departmental educational programs.
  • Enrich patient experiences with compassion and respect.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the role.
Requirements
