Job description

Overview:

The incumbent will lead and manage people and resources within the IT department and will be responsible for formulating and executing the organization's IT strategy. This role ensures the development and maintenance of robust Information Systems that effectively support business operations, enhance performance, and facilitate integration with subsidiaries (where applicable). The position also involves resource allocation for IT projects, supervision and support of team members, proposing strategic initiatives, and representing the IT function both internally and externally. The job holder will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and act as a subject matter expert in IT with a high level of autonomy.

Key Accountabilities

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for network and infrastructure in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers, system administrators, and technical professionals.
  • Establish and enforce policies, standards, and procedures governing infrastructure and network operations.

2. Network and Infrastructure Design

  • Direct the design and implementation of network architectures that are scalable, secure, and efficient.
  • Approve infrastructure-related projects, upgrades, and technology deployments.
  • Ensure infrastructure supports current business operations and is adaptable for future growth.

3. Budgeting and Resource Management

  • Prepare and oversee budgets for network and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Effectively allocate technical, human, and financial resources.
  • Manage vendor negotiations and procurement processes.

4. Security Oversight

  • Implement and maintain information security policies to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Supervise the deployment of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
  • Coordinate security audits and incident response efforts.

5. Operational Management

  • Ensure uninterrupted and reliable operation of network and infrastructure systems.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity.
  • Oversee routine maintenance, updates, and disaster recovery planning.

6. Project Management

  • Lead infrastructure projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure project alignment and success.
  • Track project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.

7. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, legal regulations, and internal policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support audits and compliance efforts.

8. Vendor and Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Assess and select solutions that meet the organization’s technical and operational needs.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on infrastructure performance and strategic plans.

9. Innovation and Technology Adoption

  • Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Recommend and implement innovative tools and processes to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability.

10. Training and Development

  • Deliver training and support to team members and end-users on systems and security protocols.
  • Encourage ongoing professional development within the IT team.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or any similar discipline

Preferred: Relevant professional IT qualification (BCS, ISEB) and/or a MBA degree is highly preferable

Experience:

Required: 7 to 13 years of experience in a similar function with at least 4 years in a managerial position.

Preferred: Experience in a similar position in a globally recognized organization
