Job Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting network infrastructure. This role involves configuring network devices, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring optimal performance and security. A strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and cloud integration is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design & Implementation
- Configure, deploy, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Support and optimize LAN, WAN, VLAN, MPLS, and SD-WAN infrastructures.
- Assist in network capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades.
Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve network performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Monitor network health and performance using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Wireshark.
- Provide technical support to end-users and IT teams for network-related incidents.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices, including firewall policies, VPN configurations, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
- Assist in network vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts.
Cloud & Virtual Networking
- Support cloud networking environments in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Configure and manage VPNs, load balancers, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including topologies, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, server, and application teams to ensure seamless network integration.
- Work with vendors and service providers to optimize network solutions.
Job Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in network engineering or administration.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and STP.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or Palo Alto network devices.
- Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security best practices.
- Understanding of cloud networking, SDN, and network automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform).
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VoIP, wireless networking, or load balancing solutions.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and network governance frameworks.
