Job Description Summary
The Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse 3 provides advanced-level nursing care in the assigned nursing unit and is responsible for supporting operational processes, which includes but is not limited to maintaining high standards of patient care, assisting in resolving complex clinical issues, mentoring intermediate-level nurses, and collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure efficient care delivery.


Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at improving the assigned unit's nursing practices
  2. Participate in the development of protocols and processes to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency
  3. Pursue high staff engagement
  4. Obtain high patient experience
  5. Achieve and sustain high quality of care and patient safety
  6. Support the empowerment of nurses through the enculturation of the JHAH nursing Professional Practice Model

Operational Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Deliver high quality nursing care services focusing on complex cases
  2. Assist in managing workflow ensuring proper resource utilization and providing mentorship to junior nurses
  3. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and participate in the evaluation of patient outcomes
  4. Achieve and/or maintain the mandated set of activities for level 3 which is a minimum total of 20 points in at least four categories within each 12-month cycle as outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program
  5. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care from admission through discharge specific to the patient's age
  6. Provide nursing care and patient/family education consistent with the plan of care and needs of the patients with respect for the patient's privacy, dignity, personal preference, and culture, demonstrating acceptance, caring, and empathy utilizing appropriate resources when applicable
  7. Precept new hires and trainees during the probation training period and participate in making recommendations regarding progress and training needs
  8. Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and lifesaving situations by utilizing clinical skills, critical thinking, and evidence-based practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  9. Perform a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety, and comfort while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment for the patient, family, visitors, and staff
  10. Support breastfeeding guided by the Saudi MoH 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding

Minimum Education Required
3 years International Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Professional Certifications Required
Current licensure as a professional registered nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
