Job Title: Naval Engineer (Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems)

JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements to provide equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. We maintain Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the safe use of their aircraft, equipment, and weapons.

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia supports the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and developing Saudi National capability through the growth of Saudi National Partner Companies, reinforcing industrialisation and partnerships.

This role reports to the Departmental Director and involves managing and coordinating all issues related to the Al Jawf Class Mine Hunter, Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems. The successful candidate will provide expertise in ship design, modifications, engineering changes, and conduct in-depth analysis of defects and deficiencies.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Assess all proposed Engineering Changes, Modifications, Technical Instructions, and related acceptance activities for the Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems onboard the Al Jawf Class and supporting facilities.
  2. Conduct detailed analysis of onboard systems and equipment failures to determine causes and recommend corrective actions, including modifications and procedural changes.
  3. Produce RSNF Requirements and Specifications for future modifications and review contractor Work Packages.
  4. Advise on Munitions Explosives Safety and Qualification processes, ensuring standards are met.
  5. Oversee acceptance and commissioning of equipment and systems.
  6. Prepare Engineering Briefs for RSNF Officers.
  7. Lead Level 3 Technical Meetings and contribute as SME in Level 2 meetings, liaising with RSNF Directorates as needed.
  8. Ensure compliance with RSNF safety procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  9. Prepare briefs for RSNF Officers as required.
  10. Lead quarterly Level 3 Technical Meetings on behalf of RSNF, presenting on behalf of the company.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Deep knowledge of Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems.
  • Experience with Mine Hunter Engineering.
  • Experience across the Engineering Design process and Equipment Life Cycle Management.
  • Knowledge of Munitions Explosives Safety and Qualification standards.
  • Experience with Engineering Safety and Workplace Health & Safety.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Single Role Mine Hunter operations.
  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations.
