Job Title: Naval Engineer (Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems)

JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the safe use of their aircraft, equipment, and weapons.

Role Overview

This role reports to the Departmental Director and involves managing and coordinating all issues related to the Al Jawf Class, Mine Hunter, Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems. The successful candidate will provide expertise in ship design, modification, and engineering changes related to Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems, as well as conducting detailed engineering analyses of defects and deficiencies.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Assess all proposed Engineering Changes, Modifications, Technical Instructions, and related acceptance activities for the Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems onboard the Al Jawf Class and supporting facilities.
  2. Conduct detailed analysis of onboard systems and equipment failures to determine causes and recommend corrective actions, modifications, or changes in operating procedures.
  3. Produce RSNF Requirements and Specifications for future modifications and review contractor Work Packages.
  4. Advise on Munitions Explosives Safety and Qualification processes, ensuring standards are met.
  5. Oversee acceptance and commissioning of equipment and systems as required.
  6. Prepare Engineering Briefs for RSNF Officers.
  7. Lead Level 3 Technical Meetings and contribute as SME in Level 2 meetings, liaising with other RSNF Directorates.
  8. Maintain compliance with RSNF safety procedures and confidentiality of data.
  9. Prepare briefs for RSNF Officers when required.
  10. Lead quarterly Level 3 Technical Meetings on behalf of RSNF.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of Weapon, Electronic Sensor & Command Systems.
  • Experience with Mine Hunter Engineering.
  • Experience across various stages of the Engineering Design process and equipment Lifecycle Management.
  • Knowledge of Munitions Explosives Safety and Qualification standards.
  • Experience with Engineering Safety and Workplace Health & Safety.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Single Role Mine Hunter operations.
  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations.
