Job Summary :
To coordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the MPD activities, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel being utilized. To ensure that operational activities are executed in line with the confirmed drilling program and that all QHSE and procedural issues are followed as per the documented project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Lead to ensure all MPD data presented to the customer is accurate, timely, and meets the highest service quality standards on the rig site.
- Coordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the project, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel.
- Supervise onsite MPD operations including equipment preparations, data acquisition, log generation, Quality Control (QC), and service delivery to the customer.
- Ensure operational activities align with the confirmed drilling program.
- Follow all QHSE and procedural requirements as per project documentation.
- Participate in knowledge management and continuous improvement within the segment.
- Comply with NOV and customer HSE policies.
- Supervise, coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and report daily operations, variances, and performance against well program objectives and contracts.
- Implement, supervise, and coordinate daily activities related to Oil and Gas Drilling.
- Ensure safe completion of projects within planned cost and time.
- Oversee logistics, including equipment, manpower, and materials.
- Communicate with engineering, subsurface teams, and vendors for planning and execution.
- Manage onsite operations safely and efficiently, leading personnel to meet business objectives in full compliance.
- Interface with the Driller and Company Representative to ensure MPD equipment specifications are met.
- Oversee equipment transportation during logistical movements to prevent mishandling or damage.
- Maintain records of field maintenance and communicate repair/maintenance reports.
- Ensure availability of all equipment, personnel, and resources needed for service execution.
- Coordinate safety during rig up and rig down activities.
- Assist with pre-activity safety meetings following QHSE guidelines.
- Ensure crew compliance with QHSE procedures during operations.
- Evaluate individual performance of onsite MPD personnel and assist in training and development.
- Record and manage onsite spares and consumables usage.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS / COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe).
- Ability to interpret process flow diagrams and technical drawings.
- Experience with rig site reporting systems and remote management systems.
- Ability to identify faults and resolve issues efficiently.
- Strong leadership skills, including crew management, delegation, communication, and decision-making authority.
- Familiarity with MPD software such as Autocad, Drillbench, Drillsoft, Safevision.
- Ability to anticipate change impacts and handle risk and uncertainty.
- Excellent technical understanding and application of technical information.
- Problem-solving skills with effective solutions and suggestions.
- Understanding of business needs and drivers.
- Educational background: HND/Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years in relevant roles within the Oil & Gas industry, including MPD/UBD/PMCD operations.
- Knowledge of flow modelling software and operational engineering roles.
- Experience with MPD / UBD / PMCD operations and equipment.
- Good surface and subsurface understanding of Oil/Gas field development.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation processes.
- Experience in drilling HTHP/ERD wells.
