JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary :

To coordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the MPD activities, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel being utilized. To ensure that the operational activities are executed in line with the confirmed drilling program and that all Q&HSE and procedural issues are followed as per the documented project requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead to ensure all MPD data presented to the customer is accurate, timely, and meets the highest service quality standards on the rig site.
  • Coordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the project, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel.
  • Supervise MPD operations onsite, including equipment preparations, data acquisition, log generation, Quality Control (QC), and service delivery to the customer.
  • Ensure operational activities align with the confirmed drilling program.
  • Follow all Q&HSE and procedural requirements as per documented project standards.
  • Participate in the knowledge management system within the segment to promote continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with NOV and customer HSE policies.
  • Supervise, coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and report daily operations, variances, and performance against well program objectives and third-party contracts.
  • Implement, supervise, and coordinate daily activities related to oil and gas drilling as part of NOV's high-performance team.
  • Complete projects safely within planned costs and timeframes.
  • Oversee logistics, including equipment, manpower, and materials.
  • Communicate with engineering, subsurface teams, and vendors for planning and execution.
  • Manage onsite operations safely and efficiently, leading field personnel to meet business objectives in full compliance.
  • Interface with the Driller and Company Representative to ensure operating parameters are within MPD equipment specifications.
  • Oversee equipment transportation during logistical movements to prevent mishandling or damage.
  • Maintain records of all field maintenance and communicate repairs or maintenance reports with the MPD Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensure availability of all equipment, personnel, and resources needed for service execution.
  • Coordinate safety for equipment and personnel during rig up and rig down on each well.
  • Assist with pre-activity safety meetings following Q&HSE guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Ensure crew compliance with Q&HSE procedures during operations.
  • Evaluate individual performance of onsite MPD personnel and assist in training and development.
  • Record usage of onsite spares and inventory, including daily consumables.
  • Forward relevant records to enable timely replacement of items.

BEHAVIORAL SKILLS / COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Ability to interpret process flow diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Experience with rig site reporting systems and remote management systems.
  • Ability to identify faults and resolve them efficiently.
  • Strong leadership skills, including crew management, delegation, communication, and authority to halt operations if necessary.
  • Familiarity with MPD-specific software such as AutoCAD, Drillbench, Drillsoft, Safevision, etc.
  • Ability to anticipate impacts of change and handle risk and uncertainty effectively.
  • Excellent technical understanding and application of functional skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with effective solutions and suggestions.
  • Understanding of business needs and drivers.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION / SKILL-SET REQUIRED :

  • HND / Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of current flow modeling software.
  • Experience in operational engineering or servicing roles in similar environments.
  • Extensive experience in Oil & Gas Industry, including MPD / UBD / PMCD operations.
  • Hands-on drilling experience, particularly in MPD wells.
  • Technical competency with MPD operations and equipment.
  • Good understanding of surface and subsurface oil/gas field development.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation processes.
  • Experience with drilling HTHP / ERD wells.
