Monitoring Analyst (Associate)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an Associate-level Monitoring Analyst to lead the monitoring and analysis of our IT systems, infrastructure, and business applications. This role is essential in ensuring timely detection, escalation, and resolution of any issues, with a key focus on maintaining optimal service availability and performance. The position will be onsite for a duration of 3 months and will play a critical part in network security, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring & Analysis:
    • Lead the monitoring of IT systems, networks, business applications, and infrastructure to ensure they perform optimally.
    • Utilize monitoring tools to detect potential system issues, vulnerabilities, and performance degradation.
    • Ensure real-time visibility into network traffic, system performance, and application health to enable quick responses.
  • Issue Detection & Resolution:
    • Proactively identify, analyze, and escalate any performance, security, or infrastructure issues that may impact service availability.
    • Investigate and troubleshoot critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution to minimize service disruption.
  • Network Security:
    • Monitor network activity for security threats, vulnerabilities, and breaches.
    • Apply network security best practices to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate potential risks.
    • Collaborate with network and security teams to analyze and address security incidents.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with other IT teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and security personnel, to ensure swift problem resolution.
    • Provide regular status reports to stakeholders, outlining the health of the systems, infrastructure, and network.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Document all detected issues, actions taken, and resolutions provided.
    • Update monitoring logs and contribute to the development of process documentation to improve efficiency and knowledge sharing.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Monitoring Tools: Hands-on experience with IT monitoring platforms (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.).
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.), and performance monitoring.
  • Network Security: Basic knowledge of network security concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex IT issues.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to clearly escalate issues to the appropriate teams and provide status updates to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Networking (e.g., CompTIA Network+), Security (e.g., CompTIA Security+), or related fields.
  • Prior experience in a network operations or monitoring role.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks is a plus.
