Job Description

Job Summary:

Ensure provision of high quality, culturally appropriate MCH services for women and newborns. Midwives provide high quality, culturally appropriate health education and family planning services and other health and hygiene topics to the clients and patients. Meet CHWs on monthly basis and provide them appropriate guidance in coordination with CHS.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Identify targets for the set indicators and make a plan to reach to the target areas based on daily performance
• Provide ANC, PNC and family planning services to patients and clients living in catchment areas of the HF
• Identify patients at risk and need mental health management, like missed abortion, IUFD, and postpartum psychosis
• Ensure re-attendance of patients and clients for follow up visits in ANC, PNC and Family planning services.
• Play vital role in counselling pregnant women for home based delivery and provide the advice on necessary preparation for the home based deliveries to the patient and family members
• Provide primary care to women of reproductive age, in accordance with the Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS)
• Prompt and accurate documentation of care in all patient files and registers
• Give the necessary advice and care to women during pregnancy, prenatal, natal and the postpartum/ post natal period
• Provide appropriate follow-up for the post-partum patients and their babies in the maternity. Ensure they are advised on the importance of PNC visits (at least two visits), hygiene, baby care, exclusive breastfeeding, vaccination, family planning, and counseling against harmful traditional practices
• Conduct deliveries on her own and care for the newborn infant
• Assess complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care refer them for further investigation and management.
• Counsel and educate women, the family and the community, in relevant areas of health including preparation for parenthood and childbirth
• Provide all non‐surgical methods of family planning, and counseling and referral for surgical methods
• Perform limited, select administrative duties such as patient charting, recording and reporting of data; clinic and/or facility management (as required); or coordination of specific educational or outreach programs
• Follow established health center policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiatives; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards
• Participate in the provision of 24-hour/7day maternity service, which may require evening, night or on-call duty.
  
  

Job Requirements

• 3 Years Midwifery certificate from Government recognized institute in or outside the country.
• Training in BEmONC , Basic Newborn Care (BNBC) ,family planning ,HMIS and other SRH training is preferable.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant clinical experience at the national clinics/ hospitals or health organization.
• Experience working in BPHS HFs and public/private hospital as MW is necessary Experience in the use of computers and office software packages and handling of the medical report record systems.
• Have good communication and relationship skill.
• Pashto & Dari speaking and writing skills are required; English is highly recommended.
