Job Summary:

The Metallurgical Technician is responsible for conducting metallurgical testing and analysis to evaluate the properties and performance of metals and alloys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing ISO 17025 practices in the lab procedures.
  • Perform metallurgical testing and analysis on materials, including sample preparation, to assess microstructure, corrosion, mechanical properties (Tensile, Bend, Hardness, Charpy Impact etc.), and other characteristics.
  • Accurately record and document test results and observations.
  • Follow established metallurgical testing procedures and quality control protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Metallurgist and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to testing and analysis.
  • Assist in providing technical support and training to other team members as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of metallurgical testing equipment.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation related to metallurgical testing and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or technical diploma in Metallurgical Technology, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Metallurgical Technician or in a similar role within an ISO 17025 accredited lab, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
  • Proficient in the use of metallurgical testing equipment, such as optical microscopes, hardness testing machines, and mechanical testing machines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the Metallurgist and other team members.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to metallurgical testing and analysis.
  • Familiarity with data collection, documentation, and reporting procedures.
