Job Description Summary
The Medical Surgical Nurse 1 is an entry-level role providing basic nursing care in the assigned nursing unit. The nurse is responsible for assisting senior staff in patient management, which includes adhering to established protocols, developing foundational nursing skills, and supporting the Nursing Unit in required tasks to support the Nursing organization.

Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

1. Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at improving the assigned unit's nursing practices.
2. Participate in the development of protocols and processes to enhance patient safety and operational efficiency.
3. Pursue high staff engagement.
4. Obtain high patient experience scores.
5. Achieve and sustain high quality of care and patient safety.
6. Support the empowerment of nurses through the enculturation of the JHAH Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Operational Roles & Responsibilities

1. Support various nursing tasks including patient preparation and basic care delivery.
2. Monitor patient conditions and ensure safety during routine tasks.
3. Achieve and/or maintain the mandated set of activities for level 1, which is a minimum total of 10 points in at least two categories within each 12-month cycle as outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program.
4. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care from admission through discharge, specific to the patient's age.
5. Provide nursing care and patient/family education consistent with the plan of care and the needs of the patients, respecting privacy, dignity, personal preferences, and culture, demonstrating acceptance, caring, and empathy, and utilizing appropriate resources when applicable.
6. Respond promptly and effectively to emergency and lifesaving situations using clinical skills, critical thinking, and evidence-based practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
7. Perform a wide range of nursing procedures with attention to accuracy, patient safety, and comfort, while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Minimum Education Required

International Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), or actively pursuing a BSN with formal academic transcript submission.

Professional Certifications Required

• Current licensure as a registered nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Years of Experience

Up to 2 years of nursing or clinically related experience.

Languages

English: Fully proficient; Arabic: Preferred.
