Full-Time, 36-40 Hours/Week

Night and Day Shift available

$5,000-$6,000 Sign on bonus (taxable) available

Summary:

Responsible for the collection, processing, and testing of laboratory specimens on all patient types to aid in the diagnosis of disease. Testing of specimens requires knowledge and application of laboratory science techniques, attention to detail and quality control, demonstrated skill with sophisticated testing equipment and computers, as well as troubleshooting and maintenance skills to maintain accurate functioning of equipment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Performs routine and complex laboratory tests.
  2. Operates a variety of instrumentation and equipment to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Prioritizes varying test requests.
  4. Follows all hospital and laboratory policies and procedures, including specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
  5. Addresses patients and families appropriately according to their understanding.
  6. Reports critical information to physicians or caregivers within policy and timeframes.
  7. Performs other duties as required.

Technical Expertise:

  1. Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including recent experience in multiple disciplines.
  2. Experience with high complexity testing.
  3. Experience working with all organizational levels.
  4. Healthcare experience.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  1. Associate degree in coursework defined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required.
  2. Certification or eligibility for certification by ASCP at the Technologist level or grandfathered prior to 2004 is required. Certification must be obtained within 12 months of starting the position. Certification through AMT also qualifies. Must be obtained within 18 months.
  3. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  4. No supervisory experience required.
