Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Static Equipment (Mechanical) Engineer to join our Yanbu Refinery Engineering Division.

Yanbu Refinery is a 250 MBD capacity refinery located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, responsible for producing refined products such as Gasoline, Diesel, and Jet Fuel for the western region of Saudi Arabia.

Your primary role will be to conduct special studies and analyses, including mechanical calculations for static equipment like piping, pressure vessels, and shell and tube heat exchangers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field troubleshooting to support plant operations, focusing on stationary mechanical equipment integrity, participating in major T&Is/emergency plant shutdowns, supporting maintenance in repair procedures, reviewing material specifications and quotations, and supporting contractor repair procedures or designs.
  • Participate in facilities audits, insurance assessments, HAZOP studies, compliance reviews, and other evaluations.
  • Support capital and expense project reviews, including drawings, calculations, scope of work, material specifications, vendor quotations, and purchase orders.
  • Perform piping and mechanical equipment calculations such as minimum wall thickness, tube sheet thickness, fire heater calculations, reinforcement calculations, MAWP calculations per ASME standards, hydrotest pressures, and other mechanical assessments as per applicable standards.
  • Conduct mechanical technical assessments for plant reliability and integrity, including boiler and heat exchanger assessments, and evaluations of firefighting equipment, valves, and related systems.
  • Develop in-house design packages for expense projects, including scope of work, assembly procedures, welding procedures, NDT requirements, material lists, and drawings.
  • Review and revalidate existing drawings and data sheets.
  • Investigate plant mechanical failures or trips, participate in risk assessments and HAZOP studies, and review revised standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the refinery, NGLF, or petrochemical industry, specifically in asset integrity of stationary equipment, with at least 8 years of field experience working on major turnarounds and troubleshooting.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering best practices, industry codes and standards, and engineering software.
