A leading company is seeking a Mechanical QC Engineer to perform inspections and quality control of static equipment such as heat exchangers and pressure vessels. Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspection and quality control of static mechanical equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, columns, and drums in accordance with approved procedures and international codes.
Perform and document fit-up inspections, welding inspections, dimensional checks, and final inspections prior to equipment handover.
Ensure all inspection activities comply with project specifications, applicable standards (API, ASME, TEMA), and client quality requirements.
Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and third-party NDT contractors during shutdown and turnaround activities.
Review and verify relevant QA/QC documentation, such as WPS, PQR, material certificates, and inspection test reports.
Identify and document non-conformities (NCRs), suggest corrective actions, and ensure proper implementation of quality control measures.
Assist in pre-commissioning inspections and readiness of systems post-maintenance or retubing.
Maintain clear records of inspection activities and prepare daily inspection reports and final dossiers for client submission.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
Certifications:
API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector) Mandatory
API 570 (Piping Inspector) Preferred / Optional
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection of static equipment.
At least 3 years of inspection experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or shutdown/turnaround environments.
Technical Expertise Required:
In-depth knowledge of inspection methodologies for static equipment.
Familiarity with international codes and standards including API, ASME Sec VIII, IX, and TEMA.
Strong understanding of welding processes, NDT techniques, and QA/QC procedures.
Hands-on experience in shutdowns, plant maintenance, and turnaround activities.
Preferred Candidate Traits:
Prior experience working in running plants, refineries, or on major shutdown projects.
Ability to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal).
Strong documentation, observation, and reporting skills.
Team player with a commitment to safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
