Job description

The General Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, a strong attention to detail, and familiarity with Saudi Arabian financial regulations and tax laws.

Responsibilities

General Ledger Maintenance :

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, including “recording transactions, making adjustments, and performing reconciliations”.
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable on a monthly basis.
  • All other bookings to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.

Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable :

  • Process the accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and credit control.
  • Process and record accounts payable transactions, including vendor payments and expense reimbursements.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable on a regular basis.

Expense Management :

  • Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor and control company expenses to ensure they align with the budget.

Tax Compliance :

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT, Zakat, and other tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tax filings and payments.
  • Utilize accounting software to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes.
  • Provide training and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

Other assigned duties

  • Participate in special projects or initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Provide support and assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • SAP experience is a must
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Arabian financial regulations and tax laws is preferred.
