POSITION SUMMARY

An ambitious seasoned Mechanical Engineer providing support to ongoing plant operations, projects from development to start up, as well as lead asset management/productivity initiatives for all the Middle East Operations Facilities in the Region through the coordination of the activities from the engineers & operations teams stationed at plants. The position will also support the Equipment Sales and Plant Support team in providing similar services to Air Products joint ventures, sale of equipment and potential new customers in the Region.


NATURE & SCOPE

Provides day to day technical support to the Regional Sites to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role identifies, supports, and executes productivity initiatives for the facilities in the Region. The facilities range across multiple technologies such as Air Separation (ASU), Hydrogen and CO production (HYCO), Packaged Gases, Gasification and Helium. The role supports the Equipment Sales and Plant Support team in providing similar services to our joint venture partners, sale of equipment and new customers.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide engineering evaluation & determinations, issue technical direction & guidance, and oversee construction completion packages, inspection & quality assurance initiatives for all aspects of plant Systems & Equipment including compliance to specification, drawings, manufacturer recommendation & pressure testing requirements.
  • Ensure all projects receive adequate process hazard reviews and close out ORIs with all actions & recommendations completed timely prior to handover to operations.
  • Provide engineering support & guidance during the construction of the plants. Maintain accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives.
  • Provide engineering guidance to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
  • Develop detailed engineering specifications, evaluate quotations, perform technical bid evaluations & vendor document review, and validate factory acceptance testing related to the procurement of Pressure Systems & Equipment and system components.
  • Lead and provide technical support services in the new installation, existing plant modifications, ongoing operations, and continuous improvement and maintenance activities for the facilities in the Region. Ensure the activities related meet legal requirements and comply with Air Products safety and technical standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Mechanical Engineering graduate (BSME) with >10 years of relevant experience in chemical/refinery/gas plant maintenance/inspection/engineering.
  • Additional experience in plant maintenance, pressure vessel design/repair, heat exchangers, machinery, process safety, mechanical integrity and work process management a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of the ASME and ANSI codes for design, inspection, and repair.
  • Working knowledge of piping and pressure vessel design & materials compatibility.
  • Working knowledge of welding procedures, qualifications, inspections, and quality assurance.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in inspection & testing techniques for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks and piping.
  • Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively throughout all levels within the organization.
  • Desirable to have ASME/API Pressure Vessel, Piping inspection qualification.
  • Desirable to have Piping stress analysis experience.
  • Experience in leading and guiding technical employees needed.
