Job description

The opportunity

The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring that materials required for production are available in a timely manner, maintaining optimal inventory levels while supporting production efficiency. The planner will coordinate with production planners and the supply chain team to align material requirements with production schedules. This role involves managing daily tasks, resolving material-related issues, and optimizing processes to ensure smooth material flow and achievement of production targets.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Manage and maintain inventory levels, ensuring materials are available for production without causing overstock or shortages.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to track purchase orders, deliveries, and forecasted material requirements.
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings with key suppliers and the SCM team to address supply chain or material concerns.
  • Follow up on missed milestones and escalate delays as necessary.
  • Review and report on missed milestones, coordinating with relevant departments (PM, ENG, SCM, FFs) to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce material shortages, delays, and inefficiencies.
  • Analyze material flow and production schedules to identify bottlenecks and develop strategies to address them.
  • Maintain compliance with 5S principles and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the material planning team.

Your background

  • A bachelor’s degree in production management, supply chain, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience or a diploma may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production management tools and ERP systems is essential for effective planning and scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, factory load management, and capacity planning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
