Job summary

A leading company in the steel industry is seeking a Material Controller to manage the delivery and inspection of raw materials in a fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include coordinating with quality control, managing inventories, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as Material Controller in a steel warehouse or fabrication shop.
• Knowledge of ERP systems preferred.
• Ability to inspect and coordinate material deliveries.

Job description

• Ensure raw materials are delivered to shop floor on time from different raw material stores to avoid shortage in materials and possible delay in the production.
• Prepare raw Materials Items Purchase Requisition and follows up with Purchasing Buyer to ensure purchase orders are released
• Follows up with Port brokers to deliver the required raw materials items
• Ensure received items are matched with PO & delivery note
• Coordinate with Quality Control unit to inspect received items
• Administers location arranging and labeling of raw materials items
• Update QC cleared materials in ERP and take print out for the receipt
• Coordinates with the Shipping Controller for any discrepancy in the materials to be loaded.
• Isolate and label rejected items and take necessary steps to reduce the value of rejected store items.
• Take steps to reduce the value of obsolete items
• Ensure that month -end closing of transaction is maintained on time.
• Coordinate with concerned parties and resolves the discrepancies between physical and system inventories
• Verifies the materials and reports against packing list / Bill of Materials.
• Notifies the Shipping Controller for any discrepancy in the materials received.
• Be aware and follow the Company Policies and Procedures on Safety and Health at all times.
• Wear Protective Preventive Equipment (PPE) in the work area as necessary.
• Keep his assigned work area clean and in order at all times.
• Report any signs of unsafe working conditions to the supervisor immediately.
