Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineer with significant sea time and a valid Certificate of Competency (COC) of 3rd Engineer or 4th Engineer to join our team. The role involves maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the operational efficiency of naval vessels.. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on maritime experience and technical expertise to support mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Vessel Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment to meet Navy operational and safety standards.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on naval boats to ensure minimal downtime and sustained mission readiness.
- System Upgrades and Modifications: Execute upgrades or modifications to vessel systems in accordance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration with Naval Teams: Partner with Navy personnel to align maintenance activities with operational needs and provide technical expertise.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections, and submit detailed reports to management and Navy representatives.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and Navy standards during all maintenance activities.
- Inventory Management: Oversee spare parts and equipment inventory to support efficient maintenance operations.
- Emergency Response: Provide rapid response to urgent repair needs, including availability for on-call duties.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Certificate of Competency (COC): 3rd or 4th Marine Engineer COC (e.g., Class 1, Class 2, or equivalent) issued by a recognized maritime authority.
- Sea Time: Minimum of 2-3 years of documented sea time as a Marine Engineer on vessels, demonstrating hands-on experience in operational maritime environments.
- Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in marine engineering, with a focus on vessel maintenance and repair. Experience with naval vessels or government contracts is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Additional certifications (e.g., STCW, USCG licensure, or OEM-specific training) are advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in marine propulsion systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, HVAC, and hydraulic systems. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities. Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift heavy equipment, and operate in various weather conditions on water.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by Navy contracts.
