Job Description
Job Purpose
The Manager, Digitalization & Innovation is a pivotal leadership role responsible for defining, driving, and overseeing the organization's comprehensive digitalization strategy and innovation agenda. This includes refreshing the digitalization roadmap, spearheading the development and implementation of robust digital infrastructure, ensuring the successful execution and adoption of all digitalization projects, and fostering a culture of continuous innovation. This position is instrumental in translating strategic objectives from HQ Technology and Innovation teams into actionable initiatives, ensuring technological feasibility, operational efficiency, and measurable business value across the enterprise.
Key AccountabilitiesStrategic Leadership & Vision:
- Define and articulate the digitalization and innovation vision and strategy, aligning it with the overall organizational goals and initiatives from the HQ Technology and Innovation team.
- Lead and oversee the entire Digitalization & Innovation department, ensuring all sections (Infrastructure, Implementation, Data Science, etc.) operate cohesively towards common objectives.
- Identify emerging digital technologies and innovative solutions, assessing their potential impact and applicability to enhance operational performance and create new value streams.
- Act as a primary liaison with the HQ Technology and Innovation team, ensuring seamless integration and successful achievement of their digitalization goals within the business unit.
- Continuously refresh and evolve the digitalization roadmap to adapt to changing business needs and technological advancements.
Digital Infrastructure & Architecture Oversight:
- Provide strategic direction for the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and reliable digital infrastructure solutions.
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding of IT and Operational Technology (OT) architectures and direct experience with critical operational systems such as PIMS, DCS, LIMS, and OSI PI.
- Oversee the optimization of digital infrastructure to enable the seamless development, scaling, and performance of digital and AI solutions.
- Monitor system performance and direct continuous improvements to ensure the resilience and efficiency of the digital backbone.
Digital Project Implementation & Delivery Excellence:
- Provide executive oversight for the execution of all digitalization initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve their intended benefits.
- Expedite the delivery of digitalization initiatives by optimizing project methodologies and resource allocation.
- Direct comprehensive diagnostics for digital readiness and ensure the allocation of necessary resources for seamless project implementation and user adoption.
- Champion the development and management of digital implementation strategies that optimize operational processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Drive the widespread adoption of advanced technologies, including automation, data analytics, and AI systems, to enhance operational performance and deliver measurable value.
- Ensure robust change management procedures are applied to all digital projects, managing scope, schedule, and expenses with appropriate verification.
Data & Analytics Strategy:
- Oversee the strategy for data collection, management, analysis, and utilization to drive data-driven decision-making and innovation.
- Ensure the development of internal key metrics reporting and scorecards based on internal stakeholder requirements to track digital initiative performance.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, HR, IT, etc.) to identify digital transformation opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients, and consulting engineers regarding digitalization strategies and progress.
- Communicate effectively on the progress and outcomes of digital initiatives, providing regular, transparent updates to top management.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering advanced skills in digital tools, methodologies, and innovative thinking.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department, implementing best practices in digital processes and technologies.
Skills:
- Proven experience in developing and implementing technical training programs, including JQP and OJT.
- Demonstrated experience in driving digital transformation initiatives in learning and development.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Experience in developing and managing training budgets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with mining operations and maintenance practices is highly desirable.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other digital learning tools.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, or a related technical field. A Master's degree or MBA is highly preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role focused on digital transformation, IT/OT integration, and large-scale project delivery.
Proven track record of successfully leading and implementing complex digitalization strategies and innovation initiatives.
