Job description

About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid's proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our \"Compromise Nothing™\" approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience. We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what's possible and shape the future of mobility.

Position Overview

The Resident Product Engineering (RPE) team is the plant-based engineering organization responsible for resolving product issues that impact vehicles in production. This Engineering Manager role leads the RPE team supporting Body Structures, Closures and Low Voltage Harness across Lucid's production vehicle programs. The role exists to strengthen engineering ownership for production issue triage, containment, root cause analysis, permanent corrective actions and cross-functional escalation management. In the first 12 months, success means establishing clear issue ownership, improving response time to production concerns, reducing repeat issues, and creating a stronger feedback loop between current production, future programs and core Vehicle Engineering teams. What you will find here that you will not find in a comparable role elsewhere is direct influence over complete vehicle system robustness across structural, closure, mechanical and electrical interfaces in a fast-moving EV manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership: Lead the RPE organization across Body Structures, Closures and LV Harness, setting priorities, balancing workload, developing engineers and building capability for current production, launch support and continuous improvement.

  • Product Issue Resolution: Own engineering triage for production and field concerns, ensuring clear problem definition, risk assessment, containment, root cause investigation, corrective action planning and effectiveness verification.

  • Plant Escalations: Serve as the engineering escalation point for build, assembly, quality, supplier and manufacturing disruptions, making timely decisions that balance safety, quality, delivery, cost, manufacturability and customer impact.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Supplier Quality, Service, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Program teams to align ownership, timing, resources and closure evidence.

  • Launch Readiness: Support launch, ramp and Safe Launch activities by ensuring production learnings are incorporated into design standards, validation plans, manufacturing requirements and future program readiness.

  • Operational Improvement: Improve RPE standard work, escalation forums, issue management systems, reporting cadence and problem-solving discipline to reduce recurrence and increase transparency.

Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading structured problem solving for complex product issues, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective action development and effectiveness verification.

  • Strong working knowledge of vehicle structures, closures and/or low-voltage electrical distribution systems, with the ability to manage cross-system interfaces in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in escalation management efficiently with competing priorities between functions in the plant.

  • Expertise in using failure mode management tools in product & process development lifecycle (DFMEA/DVP&R/DFM/DFA/PFMEA/Control Plan etc).

  • Exceptional communication & documentation skills are required.

  • Develop processes, tools, & standards to enable efficient use of resources within the team as per pre-defined scope & associated cross-functional engagement.

  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Safe Launch, VMEA/FMEA, 8D, PPS or similar structured problem-solving and quality methods.

  • Experience using Jira, PLM, issue management systems and production quality data to manage engineering execution and escalation transparency.

  • Six Sigma Black belt certification is preferred.

  • Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of automotive product engineering experience, including production, launch, sustaining engineering or resident engineering exposure.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership, people management or technical team leadership experience, including responsibility for prioritization, coaching and execution across multiple engineers or workstreams.

  • Experience with BIW manufacturing, closure assembly, sealing systems, mechanisms, stampings, castings, extrusions, joining systems and LV harness routing or packaging.
