Job description

• 01 Oversees maintenance safety initiatives, including hazard identification, risk management, safety assurance, and promotion activities. Ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational SMS and maintenance safety standards

• 02 Conducts detailed investigations into maintenance incidents, ground handling events, and technical defects. Prepares investigation reports and recommends corrective/preventive measures.

• 03 Facilitates regular Maintenance Safety Review Board (MSRB) meetings, monitors maintenance safety performance indicators (SPIs), and ensures documentation and tracking of safety issues to closure.

• 04 Develops and delivers maintenance-specific safety briefings, safety alerts, and targeted awareness campaigns to promote safety culture among maintenance and ground operations personnel.

• 05 Monitors and analyzes maintenance error reports (e.g., MEDA reports, maintenance findings) to detect trends and recommend preventive actions.

• 06 Supports risk assessments for new maintenance procedures, tooling, and facility changes to ensure safe operational practices.

• 07 Conducts audits and inspections focused on maintenance safety, ensuring compliance with GACA regulations, ICAO standards, and internal policies.

• 08 Analyzes technical reports to identify safety gaps and recommends continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes.

• 09 Liaises with regulatory authorities (GACA, ICAO), external auditors, and industry organizations to ensure compliance with maintenance safety standards and promote best practices.

• 10 Promotes a proactive maintenance safety culture by publishing newsletters, issuing safety bulletins, and conducting maintenance-focused safety workshops.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Aeronautical Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or SMS Certification.

Knowledge and Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation maintenance operations and/or aviation safety management.

-Strong knowledge of GACAR Part 5, Part 145, ICAO Annex 19, and SMS principles.

-Experience conducting maintenance safety investigations, risk assessments, and root cause analysis.

-Familiarity with MEDA (Maintenance Error Decision Aid) and other maintenance investigation methodologies preferred.

-Proficiency in maintenance safety management tools and data analysis software desirable.

License and Certificates:

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s License (AMEL) preferred, or equivalent aviation maintenance technical qualification.
