Job Scope

Take part in the Jeddah Geochemistry lab start-up preparation, including coordinating and assisting with equipment and instrument installation and test runs. Create and maintain an equipment and spare parts registry system. Be primarily responsible for ensuring the operational consistency of lab and building infrastructural equipment. Train operators on the safe use of equipment and perform routine maintenance. The job scope will be reviewed and revised after the lab passes the start-up phase.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive, store, and track equipment, instruments, and spare parts from local and overseas suppliers during lab construction, fit-out, and start-up stages.
  • Assist with ongoing lab building construction, focusing on equipment and instrument layout according to the lab design plan.
  • Assist with equipment and instrument installation, conduct test runs, and accept job completion.
  • Manage in-house customization, alterations, and modifications of lab items.
  • Create and maintain an equipment inventory tracking and ordering system.
  • Identify preventive maintenance needs and establish a maintenance system.
  • Coordinate repairs or external services to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Train and supervise maintenance staff in routine repair and maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of laboratory or mechanical/trades workshop experience.
  • Electrician certification or equivalent trades certificate (electrician preferred).
  • Forklift driver’s license required.
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
  • First Aid certification preferred.

Required Skills (Technical & Soft Skills)

  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and email communication.
  • Demonstrated craftsmanship.

Additional Information

  • Second language skills, preferably English, are preferred.
  • City-based operation with shift rotation if not employed locally.
  • Flexible working hours with prior arrangements.
  • Ability to attend emergency service calls as required.
