Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Machinist to operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machines, including lathes, milling machines, drilling, tapping, and grinding equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in precision machining, interpreting technical drawings, and producing high-quality metal components to exact specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Operation & Setup

· Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, etc.).

· Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters (speeds, feeds, depth of cut) for optimal performance.

· Perform first-off inspections to ensure accuracy before full production runs.

2. Precision Machining & Fabrication

· Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.

· Machine parts from raw materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.) to tight tolerances (±0.001” or better).

· Perform turning, facing, threading, boring, drilling, tapping, and milling operations.

· Deburr and finish parts to meet quality standards.

3. Quality Control & Inspection

· Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM) to verify dimensions.

· Conduct in-process checks to ensure compliance with specifications.

· Report deviations and adjust machining processes as needed.

4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

· Perform routine machine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, tool replacement).

· Diagnose and resolve machining issues (tool wear, vibration, misalignment).

· Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.

· Work with engineers and supervisors to optimize machining processes.

· Suggest improvements for efficiency, tool life, and cost reduction.

· Assist in training junior machinists as needed.

Desired Candidate Profile

o 5+ years as a Manual & CNC Machinist in a metalworking environment.

o Proficiency in lathe, milling, drilling, tapping, and grinding operations.

o Familiarity with CNC controls is a plus.

· Technical Skills:

o Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T standards.

o Strong knowledge of cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and material properties.

o Experience with precision measuring instruments.
