Job Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics operations within an organization to ensure efficient transportation, distribution, and storage of goods and materials. This role involves managing a team of logistics personnel, including drivers, warehouse workers, and administrative staff, to optimize productivity and meet operational goals. The Logistics Supervisor plans and schedules logistics activities, monitors inventory levels, and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. They play a critical role in ensuring timely delivery of products, maintaining accurate records, and upholding safety and regulatory compliance standards within the logistics department.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and timely implementation of all logistics daily operational goals.
- Assist in developing logistics programs, including support plans, budget requirements, and organization timelines for new operations.
- Maintain and manage relationships with warehouses, carriers, customs brokers, and customers.
- Negotiate and support logistics costs for third-party logistics providers, assisting in achieving yearly budget goals.
- Coordinate with all parties to guarantee shipments are packed, sent, and delivered promptly.
- Evaluate potential logistics suppliers and appropriate delivery management booking systems.
- Coordinate and present logistics support for ongoing operations.
- Develop and execute tools and methodologies for effective implementation of logistics plans.
- Design and develop standard operating procedures to manage logistics operations efficiently.
- Implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
- Ensure compliance with all company directives, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain safety policies and ensure they are strictly followed.
- Develop and maintain logistics process documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Establish and manage relations with warehouses, carriers, customs brokers, and customers.
- Ensure customers receive their products/materials in a timely manner and in good condition.
- Communicate effectively with clients and respond to their requirements.
- Develop stock control methods, monitor warehousing management, and submit regular situation reports on stocks, equipment, and prepositioned goods.
- Plan site setup for efficient movement of labor, plant, and materials, including hoarding, gates, site accommodation, cranes, security, and waste management.
- Plan logistics routes through project phases, focusing on vehicle, machinery, and personnel separation, and define offloading points.
- Pre-plan the usage of key assets such as hoists to meet project needs.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough understanding of logistics principles, including transportation, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee logistics personnel and coordinate daily operations.
- Excellent organizational skills for planning, scheduling, and optimizing routes.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and analyze performance metrics.
- Problem-solving skills to address logistical challenges and implement process improvements.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, is required.
Job Experience
Minimum 5 years of working experience, with at least 3 years relevant experience; GCC experience is a plus.
