Job description

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a special position in the global energy industry. We are one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals, with among the lowest Upstream carbon intensities of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a forward-looking view of the future, born of our nine decades of experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.

Overview

We are seeking a Linear Programming Engineer to join the Central Planning & Modeling Division.

The division is responsible for optimizing crude allocation and the operations of global manufacturing facilities to maximize revenue, increase profitability, and capture international market opportunities. It also acts as the LP gatekeeper for wholly owned refineries and the global MPIMS model, maintaining an integrated global planning model for optimizing crude allocation, exploring new markets, and integration options.

Your primary role is to consult on complex engineering and LP problems, review existing and new rigorous simulations to update or build shift vectors for sub-models in the PIMS structure, and ensure simulation accuracy for LP backcasting. You will also have the opportunity to develop a new grassroots refinery simulation, mentor junior engineers, and provide specialized technical services in recognized engineering fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run rigorous simulations to identify deviations from actual conditions.
  • Operate the wide refinery model after SROP optimization to identify operational opportunities.
  • Define data and processes needed to maintain and update simulations.
  • Develop non-linear equations to reflect operational variables in PIMS AO model.
  • Maintain accuracy of hybrid models for LP engineers.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to ensure accurate simulation outputs and address bottlenecks.
  • Perform back-casting and report monthly on simulation gaps and mitigations.
  • Support stakeholders in creating models for new projects in Downstream.
  • Assist ASSAY experts in calibrating TBP and cut points to reflect actual column efficiencies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 9 years of experience in consulting or refinery industries, with deep knowledge of rigorous simulation for refinery units.
  • Expertise in developing simulations using Aspen HYSYS or PETROSIM for at least 7 years.
  • Experience developing simulations for hydrocracking, FCC, DHT, reforming units, and comprehensive refinery models.
  • Strong understanding of engineering practices, economic principles, and calculation methods.
  • Experience in international business and cross-cultural practices.
  • Experience integrating simulation models with ASPEN PIMS.
