Job Description:


Essential Job Functions:


  • Serve as SME (subject matter expert) for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and other database technologies.


  • Responsible for database backup and restore functions including scheduled tests of DR availability, including knowledge of MS SQL restoration and availability technologies such as Clustering, Replication and especially Always-On.


  • MS SQL production database level performance tuning.


  • Participates in SQL code-reviews for the application teams to enforce SQL coding standards.


  • Builds and reports on SQL environment performance and availability metrics and takes appropriate actions to implement best practices and optimize performance.


  • Assist in the technical analysis and design for current and future projects.


  • Writes appropriate SQL scripts to extract data efficiently and in a timely manner.


  • Install database software on servers as needed.


  • Monitor databases for performance and issues using monitoring tools.


  • Ensure all database servers are managed to Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).


  • Architect and maintain Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup/restore strategies.


  • Lead performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution.


  • Manage Oracle database lifecycle: provisioning, migration, upgrades.


  • Ensure high availability and replication readiness across DCs.


  • Implement automation for routine tasks using Ansible or PL/SQL scripting.


  • Ensure NCA and NDMO compliance, secure data handling, and auditing.


  • Mentor L2 Oracle engineers and interface with solution architects.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Typically, 6+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role


  • Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM.


  • Expertise in SQL optimization and schema tuning.


  • Experience in hybrid cloud database setups.


  • Knowledge of Ansible or Terraform for automation.


  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard database management practices and methodologies.


Other Qualifications:


  • An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus


  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)


  • Professional certification in database administration
