Job description

Job Description Summary

The Lead Project Manager-Close Out is responsible for delivering and closing projects in the Grid Automation sector (Protection, SAS, Telecom, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Services, etc.) within the electrical transmission and distribution industry across Saudi Arabia. This role involves taking over projects after execution to ensure that snag lists are professionally handled, customer Provisional Acceptance Certificates (PAC) are obtained, warranties are expired, and projects are fully closed both technically and financially. The goal is to ensure high customer satisfaction and maximize margins and value, with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

The Lead Project Manager-Close Out must prioritize safety and be vigilant about project constraints such as scope, schedule, and cost, while maintaining quality throughout. Effective communication with all stakeholders is essential to meet project objectives during the close-out phase. The role requires identifying potential risks and opportunities, documenting lessons learned, and sharing experiences as needed.

This proactive leader should be self-motivated, organized, and contribute to business revenue and margins by operating efficiently—providing accurate forecasts (sales, cash, margin, VO, etc.) and achieving targets within committed timelines. The role involves collaboration across internal functions and external communication. Support for tendering and mentorship to less experienced peers in project management and technical aspects of Grid Automation is also expected.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Project execution from internal handover to project closing.
  2. Serve as the primary customer contact for contract/project closure.
  3. Collaborate with EHS, engineering, contract admin, contract management, finance, procurement, and other support functions.
  4. Ensure accurate forecasting related to project closure.
  5. Adhere to project management best practices, including transfer review, project gates reviews, and close-out procedures.
  6. Provide monthly updates on action plan progress, sales, and cash forecasts.
  7. Prepare and present project review reports.
  8. Contribute to EHS planning, operational development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Lead EHS and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with GE rules and processes, and proper training and qualification of project teams.
  10. Promote compliance with GE policies ('The Spirit and The Letter') and foster open reporting.
  11. Support commercial teams through experience sharing, and optimize project costs and deliveries.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project management, contract management, or site management.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is advantageous.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in electric substation engineering and site commissioning.
  • Knowledge of the Saudi grid automation market, end users, and EPCs.
  • Proactive approach to challenges.
  • Fluent in English.
