Lead Process Flow Assurance Engineer
Lead Process Flow Assurance Engineer – Onshore / Single Phase / Synergi Pipeline Simulator (Saudi Arabia – Aramco Projects)
Role Overview
The Lead Process Flow Assurance Engineer will manage and execute all flow assurance and hydraulic engineering activities for onshore oil & gas facilities, gathering systems, and pipeline networks in Saudi Arabia. The role requires deep expertise in single‑phase flow modeling, a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS), and 15+ years of total experience in the oil & gas industry. Prior experience delivering Saudi Aramco onshore projects is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Flow Assurance Engineering (Onshore)
- Lead single‑phase flow assurance studies for onshore pipelines, trunklines, flowlines, and gathering networks.
- Perform steady‑state and transient hydraulic simulations using Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
- Conduct pressure‑drop analysis, thermal evaluation, line sizing, and system operability assessments.
- Evaluate system behavior during startup, shutdown, pigging, ramp‑up, and upset conditions.
- Identify and mitigate risks such as erosion, sand transport, thermal issues, and slugging at transitions.
Saudi Aramco Project Execution
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with Saudi Aramco standards:
- SAES
- SAMSS
- SAEP
- Prepare and review Aramco‑required documents:
- Design Basis Memoranda (DBM)
- Hydraulic Calculation Reports
- Flow Assurance Studies
- Operating Philosophy
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Participate in Aramco design reviews, HAZOPs, Model Reviews, and respond to TQs/SQs.
Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) Modeling
- Build, calibrate, and maintain SPS models for onshore pipeline networks and facility hydraulics.
- Integrate SPS models with process simulations for full‑system evaluation.
- Support pipeline and process teams with surge analysis, hydraulic profiles, and line sizing.
Project Leadership
- Lead flow assurance scopes across FEED, detailed design, EPC, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with process, pipeline, mechanical, and operations teams.
- Review vendor packages (pumps, compressors, separators, heaters, metering systems) for hydraulic compliance.
- Provide technical leadership during project workshops and client meetings.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of total experience in the oil & gas industry.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS).
- Strong expertise in single‑phase flow modeling and pipeline hydraulics.
- Mandatory: Proven experience working on Saudi Aramco onshore projects.
- Strong understanding of Aramco standards (SAES, SAMSS, SAEP, GI).
- Experience with onshore pipeline networks, gathering systems, and processing facilities.
💡 Key Skills
- Strong analytical and modeling capabilities.
- Excellent understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage interfaces.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with Saudi project execution culture and requirements.
Requirements:
- BS Engineering Degree and registered as a professional engineer with significant experience of 15 years.
- Has experience in the hydrocarbon processing/utilities units, the oil/gas industry or refinery project/process industries and is recognized as a project/process engineering specialist.
- Has experience in coordinating/managing the work internally, with other disciplines, and 3rd party/licensors.
- Must have thorough knowledge of process engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
